ALD 2019

African Liberation Day (ALD) is celebrated each year around the world on May 25th. Commemorations are often one or two-day events, which can feature:

  • A symposium of international speakers
  • A march and rally
  • Culturally relevant vendors
  • Edutainment (education through cultural entertainment)

Our Theme

African Liberation Day is a day of work and study to politically educate women, men and children to the reality that imperialism is in its last stage, Neo-colonialism. Neo-colonialism is the foreign exploitation of Africa’s resources and labor with the assistance of corrupt and counter-revolutionary leaders who greedily perpetuate the nightmare African people currently experience. ALD is a voice for socialism—African people must organize with a revolutionary ideology to smash neo-colonialism and build a unified socialist Africa.
