68th Anniversary of African Liberation Day. Founded in 1958 in Ghana as African Freedom Day. Name Changed to African Liberation Day during the founding conference of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963 in Ethiopia on 25 May 1963. The A-APRP and its women’s wing A-AWRU, organizes African Liberation Day as a means of providing political education to the African community and encouraging our people to become politically organized as a means to gaining control over our lives collectively.
