This year’s commemoration of African Liberation Day occurs at a painful moment. Too many African lives have been claimed by Covid-19. Nevertheless, while a global pandemic presents challenges, our fight for African liberation cannot be stopped! African Liberation Day 2020 moves forward!

This year has reminded us that in more ways than we can count, Africans born and living in countries all over the world endure oppressive conditions that cause widespread poverty, illness and death. Africans need a remedy, and they need it now. The All-African People’s Revolutionary Party (A-APRP) has been steadfast in its assertion that the solution to so many of our problems can be found in Pan-Africanism: the total liberation and unification of Africa under scientific socialism. In fact, the Party devotes all its resources and energy to achieving that objective.

These sessions regularly held on Fridays throughout the year, are aimed at conscientizing and politicising the Afrikan Family. Sessions are FOC and also make a vital contribution to mobilising, organising, nurturing and unifying us as an Afrikan Family. Held via Zoom during lockdown and social distancing.

Other events planned by the Pan-African Society Community Forum:
Marcus Garvey Annual Memorial Lecture (MGAML)
The 11th MGAML will be held on Wednesday 10th June 2020 [via Zoom]
The Lecture commemorates the phenomenal contribution of Marcus Mosiah Garvey to Afrikan organising, organisations, and liberation. PASCF expresses thanks to Goldsmiths College, University of London for their hosting/support of the 2019 MGAML and ARML Lectures.

14th Ayiti Revolution Memorial Lecture [ARML] – Sunday 23rd August 2020
The annual ARML commemorates the Afrikan Liberation Process known as the Ayitian Revolution. It continues to serve to re-invigorate, re-energise and re-empower us in our unwavering fight for and insistence upon our Afrikan Liberation.

Marikana Massacre [8th] Vigil & Commemoration – Sunday 16th August 2020
This Vigil is held outside South Africa House, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DP. It is held to protest the deliberately planned massacre of 34 striking miners at Lonmin’s Marikana platinum mine, by South African police for London mining company Lonmin, whose directors included Cyril Ramaphosa, now President of South Africa. No one has been prosecuted for the murders and the protest calls for justice and compensation for the workers’ families. It is held in collaboration with several community and other forces.

Please Wear White

Wear white as a symbol of unity. In many parts of Africa, white is a sign of celebration. We honor this tradition at ALD.

About Us

African Liberation Day is a permanent mass institution in the world-wide Pan-African movement. As an institution, it is stronger today because the masses of African people are stronger and ALD is their day.
